Restoration of the 100 year old exterior light fixtures on the Frank Lloyd Wright Tennis Club in River Forest, Illinois is a recent project. Restoration consisted of stripping old cedar and copper finishes and restoring the natural copper to its original aged look. A copper finish was then gilded onto the wood. This restoration process restores the original appearance of the fixtures. During restoration, care is taken to prevent damage to the original patina. Patina is a green film that forms on copper and bronze from long exposure to moist air.
